Sigma Technology Elevate has appointed Kristoffer Danielsen as Head of Data & AI, strengthening the company’s ability to deliver advanced data platforms and AI solutions to clients across the Nordics. The appointment reflects growing market demand for AI that moves beyond proofs-of-concept to generating measurable business value.

As the EU AI Act is phased in across Europe from 2024, it is expected to enter Norwegian law through the EEA process in the coming years. At the same time, GDPR is already in effect, and NIS2 is moving toward national implementation. For many Norwegian organizations, this creates a complex landscape of overlapping regulations, while many are simultaneously under pressure to move from AI pilots to delivering measurable business impact.

Sigma Technology Elevate responds by appointing Kristoffer Danielsen as Head of Data & AI. Kristoffer and the team will help clients build data platforms that support both compliance and operational AI, not just as pilot projects, but as real business value. As part of this strategy, Sigma Technology Elevate is assembling a team of senior data engineers, leveraging a wide range of modern AI tools, and developing scalable data platforms designed to help customers safely adopt and integrate AI technologies into operations.

“Most organizations are not short of models. What they lack is a data platform and governance structure that can support them at scale. I’m excited to work with our clients to close that gap — turning their data into a genuine competitive asset,” says Kristoffer Danielsen, Head of Data & AI at Sigma Technology Elevate.

Kristoffer Danielsen brings more than a decade of experience in finance, BI, and data architecture, including senior roles at Nordr and consulting across public and private sectors. He has built large-scale Nordic data platforms and has deep expertise in financial processes, governance frameworks, and the operationalization of AI in complex organizations.

His focus will be on practical AI adoption in real estate, retail, the public sector, and industry, where automation, predictive insights, and operational efficiency offer immediate opportunities.

“Kristoffer understands how data capability is built, governed, and used in real organizations, both from the consulting side and as a decision-maker on the client side. That combination is exactly what we needed. As demand for robust data foundations and responsible AI grows, Sigma Technology Elevate is well-positioned to lead, adds Egil Fernando, President at Sigma Technology Elevate.

In just six years, Sigma Technology has transformed its leadership structure: the share of female CEOs has increased from zero to 21 percent. This work is now being recognized with the Diversity Employer Gold 2026 award from the recruitment company Women Ahead, an annual prize honoring organizations that, through consistent, credible, and long‑term efforts, demonstrate genuine leadership in diversity and inclusion.

This is the sixth year the Diversity Employer Gold award has been presented. In this year’s decision, the jury highlights Sigma Technology’s culture, values, and practical efforts as exemplary in the field.

“Diversity Employer Gold is awarded to Sigma Technology Group for its focused, strategic, and longterm work where gender equality and diversity are natural parts of both culture and business. Through its initiatives, systematically followedup goals, and genuine commitment to inclusion, Sigma Technology Group shows how values are turned into action, says Petra Hermans, CEO of Women Ahead.

Sigma Technology works long‑term and systematically to improve balance at all levels of the organization, from employees to top leadership. The goal is clear: to attract a higher share of women than the proportion currently graduating from technical education programs.

When the company introduced a long-term focus on bringing more balance into the leadership group in 2020, the share of female presidents was 0 percent. Today, in 2026, it is 21 percent.

“Our goal is to be among the top three suppliers in our segments. To get there, we need an organization that combines experience, new perspectives, and drive. Receiving Diversity Employer Gold together with being Sweden’s Top 2 Best Employer shows that our efforts truly make a difference, says Carl Vikingsson, CEO and President of Sigma Technology Group.

Rashin Kabodvand, Sigma Technology’s first female president and head of Sigma Technology Cloud, highlights the measurable effects for customers:

“A more genderequal business sector means that we utilize all the available competence. This leads to stronger teams, better problemsolving, and a faster pace of innovation, which ultimately shows in the deliveries to our customers. Winwinwin!

Initiatives that broaden the talent base

Sigma Technology works long‑term and systematically to strengthen equality and diversity throughout the organization. Together with other Sigma companies, the company drives the Femmegineering initiative, which each year engages hundreds of participants in inspiring events on future skills, inclusion, and technology. Sigma Technology’s partnerships with Skool, WiTech, Daya Ventures, Star for Life, We Are Open, and Öppet Hus support young women and underrepresented groups entering the tech industry through mentorship, skills development, and entrepreneurship.

Sigma Technology Embedded Solutions is strengthening its innovation capability through its R&D Forum — a structured, hands-on development environment where engineers turn emerging technologies and real customer needs into tested, product-ready solutions.

The R&D Forum brings together cross-functional teams across mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, embedded software, and digital applications. It enables Sigma Technology to explore new ideas, build prototypes, validate concepts, and mature technologies. For customers, the forum translates into fewer unknowns, reduced technical risks, and a smoother path from idea to implementation.

Sigma Technology Embedded Solutions, part of the Sigma Technology Group, is an engineering consulting company specializing in embedded systems, electrification, and software development. With fully equipped electronics and mechatronics labs, including a high-voltage testing environment, the company supports customers throughout the complete product lifecycle.

The R&D Forum’s project portfolio is continuously shaped by market signals, technology shifts, and close cooperation with customers. Collaboration with universities and academic partners is an integral part of the setup, enabling internships and thesis projects linked to real development projects.

“At our R&D Forum, we develop both technology and competence for the future,” says Mattias Gudasic, CTO at Sigma Technology Embedded Solutions. “What makes R&D Forum unique is that we gather experts across different roles and locations within Sigma, together with students and academia. This diversity of competences, together with our own innovation project backlog, is a powerful driver to shape future technology and products.”

From Steer‑by‑Wire to Smart Wellness

One of the R&D Forum’s flagship initiatives is the Steer-by-Wire simulator — an advanced Driver-In-The-Loop environment recreating a complete vehicle control experience, from handwheel actuators and control algorithms to diagnostics, communication, and real-time analysis support.

Beyond SteerbyWire, ongoing projects span smart lighting, traffic insights, battery optimization, Smart Home control, and other domains driving the digital transformation of mobility and electrification.

Sigma Technology Origo AB today launches Origo Product Cloud, a scalable digital platform to help manufacturers prepare for the EU Digital Battery Passport requirements, which become mandatory for all industrial and electric-vehicle batteries* placed on the European market from February 2027.

Under the updated EU Battery Regulation, every battery must have a digital identity containing verified data on origin, composition, carbon footprint, performance, repairs, and end‑of‑life handling. This introduces a major shift for producers, especially SMEs, who need reliable ways to collect, manage, and share regulated data throughout the entire battery lifecycle.

Origo Product Cloud provides a persistent digital representation of each battery, continuously updated with verified data across production, second-life use, repurposing, and recycling. The platform integrates with manufacturing systems, aftermarket workflows, and service tools to create a complete, audit-ready lifecycle record.

In addition, Origo Product Cloud implements built-in compliance rules aligned with the EU Battery Regulation. These rules automatically validate required data fields, verify battery passports against current regulatory criteria, and ensure that documentation remains consistent with evolving EU standards. By embedding regulatory logic directly into the platform, manufacturers can proactively identify compliance gaps and reduce the risk of non-conformity before placing products on the market.

“Many producers underestimate the operational complexity of the Digital Battery Passport, and treat it as a static document,” said Johnny Fägersten, President at Sigma Technology Origo AB. “In practice, it requires continuous lifecycle data management. We designed Origo Product Cloud as a living digital system that evolves with the battery.”

The platform enables secure, role-based access to regulated data for manufacturers, operators, regulators, and recyclers, while protecting intellectual property and sensitive information.

Importantly, Origo Product Cloud is designed as a future-proof digital product passport infrastructure. As the EU introduces similar requirements for electronics, machinery, and other regulated goods, manufacturers can expand from batteries to other product categories without replacing systems.

“We want to make compliance scalable,” says Johnny Fägersten. “Our goal is to give Nordic manufacturers, large and small, a digital foundation that turns regulatory pressure into long-term competitiveness.”

The demand for security‑critical software solutions is rapidly increasing in the Nordics as vital societal infrastructure becomes increasingly digitalized, and cyber threats continue to grow. The agreement marks another step in Sigma Technology North Solutions’ growth journey in northern Sweden, where the company has built a strong local presence within cybersecurity, AI, and digital solutions, combined with the strength of Sigma Technology Group’s global organization.

Clavister is a European leader in cybersecurity for fixed, mobile, and virtual network environments. Their solutions are used by enterprises, public-sector organizations, telecom operators, and defense actors to protect against both current and emerging cyber threats. Recently, Clavister announced that the company has been awarded a major development and delivery assignment by the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (NDMA), related to tactical communications and the modernization of critical infrastructure.

Our shared view on security and sustainable competence development gives us excellent foundations for building a close and successful partnership.”

“Our collaboration with Sigma Technology North Solutions has been an evolving journey since 2021. They have consistently demonstrated strong technical expertise and a shared cultural alignment. In connection with our recently awarded major contract, the collaboration has accelerated significantly. Sigma proactively helped us recruit skilled consultants even ahead of the final contract award, which clearly demonstrates real commitment and partnership,” says Nils Undén, Chief Technology Officer at Clavister. “The new framework agreement strengthens our engineering capacity and ensures we have the right expertise in place as we continue to scale our cybersecurity solutions across Europe.”

Sigma Technology North Solutions is part of Sigma Technology Group and is headquartered in northern Sweden. The company focuses on combining local presence with global expertise to support customers in digital transformation, advanced software development, and technically complex assignments.

Sigma Technology is an active partner contributing to the development of Linnaeus University’s course on Digital Product Passports for Sustainable Value Chains. The course is the first in Sweden to connect academic research, practical workshops, and industry needs to strengthen Swedish businesses ahead of the upcoming EU requirements for Digital Product Passports (DPP). The course is delivered within the framework of the Expert Competence Smart Industry initiative, which aims to enhance Sweden’s competitiveness.

The EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan and the new EU Regulation on Ecodesign for Sustainable Products (ESPR) mean that digital product passports will soon become mandatory. The purpose is to create traceability, transparency, and sustainable value chains by giving every product placed on the EU market a unique digital identity. This will affect companies in nearly all industries and means that all products entering the EU market will need to have a digital product passport.

There is a significant need for competence. Many Swedish companies—particularly small and medium-sized enterprises—lack sufficient knowledge of both the legislation and the digital processes required to implement DPP solutions effectively. When digital product passports become mandatory, companies without the right competencies risk losing ground in the EU market—both commercially and in terms of regulatory compliance.

“Many companies are waiting until the legislation comes into force and view it as a regulatory burden. This is often due to a lack of knowledge about the EU requirements and the absence of digital traceability systems. During our workshops, we demonstrate that DPP is not only about compliance — it can also become a driver for circular transition, strengthen customer trust, improve traceability, and open new business opportunities. When academia and industry collaborate, we can provide companies with the tools to both understand and apply the requirements in practice,” says Niklas Malmros, CEO of Sigma Technology Solutions Group.

Linnaeus University’s education program is Sweden’s first structured competence-development course in digital product passports with a clear focus on industry. The program demonstrates how EU requirements translate into practical tasks related to data, architecture, and value chains. The course was developed and is delivered in close collaboration with industry and ecosystem partners, including Sigma Technology, Lingon, Interior Cluster Sweden, and GS1. This ensures that participants gain practically relevant knowledge that reflects both current and upcoming demands within real value chains. The course is funded by the Knowledge Foundation (KK‑stiftelsen) and is part of the Expert Competence Smart Industry initiative.

“With this course, we want to move digital product passports from abstract EU regulation to concrete practice in Swedish companies. By combining research-based insights with hands-on workshops, we help managers and specialists understand what data they actually need, how to structure it, and how DPPs can support both compliance and new circular business opportunities. Our ambition is that participants leave with a clear roadmap for their own value chains – not just more information,” says Fisnik Dalipi, PhD, course responsible at Linnaeus University.

About the course

The course is offered as a freestanding skills development course (3 credits) at Linnaeus University in Växjö and is aimed at professionals with at least a bachelor’s degree and experience from industry or the public sector. More information about content, dates, and application is available on Linnaeus University’s website:

About Sigma Technology’s Expertise in DPP

Sigma Technology is driving the development of digital product passports through a combination of research, industry collaboration, and technological innovation. Together with Interior Cluster Sweden and Linnaeus University, we have contributed to both the development of the training programs and an academic study on DPP adoption in Swedish furniture companies. We collaborate with the Nordic Blockchain Alliance and experts from authorities and industry on the role of blockchain technology in future product passports. In addition, we are a technology partner in European and national innovation projects such as SILEO and the Vinnova‑funded projects APPEND and Stella, and we have conducted workshops for Swedish and European companies to strengthen their readiness for upcoming EU requirements.

South Africa is facing one of its most challenging decades for young jobseekers, with youth unemployment climbing from 36.9% in 2015 to 46.1% in 2025 and soaring as high as 62.4% among those aged 15–24. At the same time, girls and young women continue to bear a disproportionate share of this crisis, with nearly half of women aged 15–34 classified as NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training), underscoring the urgent need for targeted, skills-building initiatives that open real pathways to economic participation and financial independence.

The Young Entrepreneurs Program is a targeted, one-year entrepreneurship program for girls aged 14–18, aiming to spark entrepreneurial thinking as a pathway to financial independence, self-confidence, and protection against challenges linked to poverty and social vulnerability.

Creating Sustainable Impact for Girls and Their Communities

The new initiative builds on Star for Life’s Girls Club program, which aims to foster a generation of strong, independent women. The Young Entrepreneurs Program equips participants with practical business knowledge, from business ideation to marketing, sales, financial literacy, and basic record keeping.

Through hands-on learning and real-life market activities, participants will gain tools to launch small but sustainable income-generating ventures in their local communities, while also developing leadership skills and belief in their own capabilities.

The program will initially be piloted at two schools, with each school hosting a cohort of six girls, forming a total of twelve inaugural participants. The long-term ambition is to expand the program to additional schools as more partners join the initiative.

“I am deeply grateful that Sigma Technology is partnering up with us to support the next generation of female micro-entrepreneurs. This represents Star for Life at its best, and it is a cause close to my heart: empowering girls to become independent, to earn their living, and to gain the financial freedom to stand on their feet and, when necessary, leave destructive relationships,” says Jessica Grundström Ahldin, Secretary General at Star for Life.

Sigma Technology’s Contribution to Star for Life

Sigma Technology has been an active partner of Star for Life since 2015, sponsoring the organization’s motivational and health programs in three South African schools: Mmemezi High School, Nibela Primary School, and Nompondo Primary School. The partnership is driven by Sigma Technology employees, known as Star for Life Ambassadors.

These ambassadors lead initiatives that support students during their school years, through graduation, and into further education. As part of the Young Entrepreneurs Program, Sigma Technology’s ambassadors will contribute through experience sharing, knowledge exchange, and long-term collaboration with Star for Life’s local teams.

“Entrepreneurship is one of Sigma Technology’s core building blocks, which is why becoming a partner in this program felt like a natural step. We are proud to deepen our partnership with Star for Life through this important initiative. Giving young girls the tools to build their own futures is one of the most impactful investments we can make. We believe this program will not only empower individuals but also strengthen entire communities,” says Carl Vikingsson, CEO at Sigma Technology Group.
