Raoul Gustaf Wallenberg was a Swedish architect, businessman and diplomat, widely known for saving tens of thousands of Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary during World War II. In January 1945, he was arrested by Soviet forces and accused of espionage. His fate remains unknown.

In 2015, it is exactly 70 years since Raoul Wallenberg disappeared. The memorial ceremony, organized by the Embassy of Sweden, welcomed Mr. Urban Ahlin, Speaker of the Swedish Parliament, and Dr. Márta Mátrai, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly. It also gathered representatives of Swedish companies operating in Hungary.

The event was a perfect occasion to remember and be inspired by the personal courage of Raoul Wallenberg reaching out to people in need and making a difference. His conviction of and dedication to universal human values still stand out today. The evening’s program included a screening of the new Hungarian movie “The lost European” and scenes from the new Swedish chamber opera “Raoul Wallenberg is missing” by the Swedish composer Inger Wikström.

It is very important to remember kindness, altruism and willingness to help your neighbors in our busy world. It helps to be humane despite everything. Therefore, we were pleased to accept the invitation to support the event, which draws attention to these eternal values, shares György Nagy, Country Manager at Sigma Technology Hungary.
