Why did you decide to work in the tech industry?
Creating things has always been a love of mine, especially in the digital realm, such as making websites, designing graphics, and crafting content. It just made sense to turn that hobby into a job!
How can you describe your current role? What’s your responsibility area?
I work as a UX Designer, where I deal with digital experiences and try to make them match what users want and need. When I explain it to people outside of tech, I usually say it’s like mixing design with behavioral science. Right now, I’m having a blast working on a website makeover for a Swedish foundation!
What career plan do you have for the future, and how do you see your further professional development?
My approach is all about expanding my toolkit. I am constantly learning new techniques, processes, and ways of working. As a UX Designer, staying up-to-date with everything in the digital world, from accessibility to the latest trends, best practices, and tools, is a must. But what really gets me excited is accessibility and equitable design. I think that’s the path I want to follow.
What can you advise for women just entering the tech?
I think it’s all about mindset and believing in yourself and your abilities. I used to work for a sports brand, and one cool thing I picked up from there was treating my job like I’m a pro athlete. I show up to ‘practice’ (work) every day, aiming to get better at what I do, reach new goals, and learn something new. I believe that practice is key to improvement, and each day is a part of my continuous development journey. Be curious, ask a lot of questions, and never be afraid to fail!
