Introduction

As last-mile logistics evolve, intelligent mailboxes provide a secure and connected way to handle parcel deliveries and pickups. These systems rely on robust, embedded software to manage real-time communication, motorized access, user interfaces, and wireless connectivity. Sigma supported the complete development of embedded software for an IoT-enabled mailbox system, delivering end-to-end functionality across multiple Electronic Control Unit (ECU) applications.

About the Client

The client is a manufacturer of advanced delivery infrastructure, developing intelligent mailbox solutions to support parcel logistics in residential and commercial environments. The challenge was to implement a scalable embedded control system that handles parcel management, connectivity, and user access.

Solution

Sigma’s In-House team served as the dedicated embedded software development team for the project. Scope included:

  • Parcel handling logic

  • User interface and web portal development

  • Connectivity integration: RFID, Bluetooth, and WiFi

  • Internal bus communication using RS-485

  • Display and access control

  • Driver software for electrical motor control

The software was developed as a complete embedded product solution, tightly integrated with the system’s electrical and mechanical design.

Results and Deliveries

  • Fully operational embedded software stack for all ECU functions

  • Scalable platform enabling connectivity and real-time control

  • Smooth integration with UI, access systems, and mechanical components

  • Ready-to-deploy solution supporting smart parcel delivery at scale
