Introduction

As electric vehicles evolve, the complexity of their energy systems increases. Battery Management Systems (BMS) are critical for safety, performance, and range optimization. Ensuring their reliability requires precise, repeatable, and automated testing workflows. Sigma’s In-House team supported the development of such workflows, enabling efficient validation of BMS software in a virtual testing environment.

About the Client

The client is a leading automotive manufacturer actively developing next-generation electric vehicles. With a strong emphasis on in-house R&D, they required robust and scalable test solutions for their evolving BMS software, solutions that could accelerate verification while maintaining traceability to system requirements.

Solution

Sigma’s In-House engineers delivered a complete test automation package for the BMS domain, working closely with the client’s R&D department. The scope included:

  • Analyzing software and system requirements

  • Defining structured, traceable test cases

  • Developing automated test scripts

  • Executing tests in a Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environment

  • Analyzing test results and ensuring feedback integration

The solution was delivered as a standalone package while maintaining close collaboration with the client’s internal teams to align with evolving system needs.

  • A maintainable and reusable test framework for BMS verification
  • Reduced manual testing effort through automation
