Why did you decide to work in the tech industry?

I have always been a very creative and curious person, trying different things throughout my life. But back in the year 2000, when it came to choosing between applying to an Academy of Music or studying for a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, I chose the latter. I felt that being an engineer could open more doors and give me a variety of possibilities and work opportunities. Of course, enjoying those math classes and having a problem-solving mind helped me make that choice. So, I became an Information Engineer, which combines engineering with marketing and computer science. And now, almost 20 years later, you can find my classmates working in different industries having all kinds of different roles, so it was an opportunity-opener.

How can you describe your current role? What’s your responsibility area?

I work as a content creator at a large global company that manufactures tools and machining solutions for the metalworking industry. In my role as a content creator, I develop different kinds of written materials around my customer’s products. For example, sales material, marketing material, web content, user manuals, and last but not least, training materials to build knowledge and confidence around their products and solutions. I collaborate with people worldwide, collecting content from experts at the forefront of their respective areas, and then I try to tweak the content to fit the different production channels. I have a great and highly competent team that I work with daily at my customer.

What career plans do you have for the future and how do you see your further professional development?

Yes, what is the next step? Well, I never want to stop learning and developing myself. Technology is constantly changing, and as a content creator – or technical writer – I need to keep up with the wave of digitalization and the possibilities that come with it. Getting the correct content fast and having it at your fingertips becomes more and more important for all of us.

What can you advise for women just entering the tech?

Congratulations, I think you have chosen just the correct industry to work in! Probably you are guaranteed a job or even have a variety of jobs to choose from, so please remember that you – as a woman – is highly attractive to the market.
