Why did you decide to work in tech?
For me, the beauty of programming is that it is straightforward. I have worked as a consultant in different industries, and I enjoy the process of understanding and solving client’s needs through conversations. But it will be much more difficult to do it in Sweden, as I only have a couple of years of experience in the Swedish language and culture. Sigma Technology has the perfect combination of consultancy and IT for me.
How can you describe your current role? What’s your responsibility area?
I am currently working as a Software Developer in our in-house team. Usually, I have 2-3 different client projects running at the same time and the clients’ fields are diverse from pre-made concrete to private school. The tools I use most frequently are C# and .NET frameworks, SQL database, and Azure cloud service.
What career plans do you have for the future, and how do you see your further professional development?
After working as a Software Developer for one year, I want to improve my technical skills, such as learning advanced programming and frontend development. I would also want to improve my Swedish language skills so that I can use Swedish fully when clients are more comfortable with that.
What can you advise for women just entering the tech?
Believe in your skills and trust your own feelings. You might have read news of tech companies treating their female employees unfairly, but they do not represent the whole industry. Find a company that is vibrant, people-minded, and visionary, just like Sigma Technology.
