Why did you decide to work in tech?

I wish I could say my journey started with a clear passion, but it was a mix of opportunities and coincidence. STEM subjects came naturally to me in school, and when combined with my creative interests, it felt like a perfect fit to pursue Engineering with a focus on design and product development. After graduating, I began my career as a CAD engineer in the automotive industry, where the environment, tasks, and people made me thrive. With that as a starting point, I advanced in the field. Since then, I’ve worked in various roles across different industries, including project management, technical sales, and design engineering. However, a few years ago, I realized I wanted to shift towards a more user-focused perspective, leading me to my current role as a technical writer.

How can you describe your current role? What’s your responsibility area?

I am a technical writer in a user information project, specializing in the creation of digital and printed user manuals for cars. My responsibilities include developing user information content, ensuring deliverables comply with legal requirements and quality standards, and preparing files for printing.

What career plans do you have for the future and how do you see your further professional development?

My present goal is to become a highly skilled technical writer. I am eager to learn the bigger picture of information structuring while exploring other related fields. Additionally, I aim to expand my professional network and engage in new industries to further elevate my expertise.

What can you advise for women just entering the tech or girls choosing their further education?

The STEM field is vast, offering endless possibilities. Find something you enjoy and go for it. Don’t hesitate to try new things and trust in your abilities. The concept of “a typical tech-person” no longer exists. In the right environment and context, you will grow and succeed.

Do you think that societal norms (such as only boys like computers and programming) influence a girl’s decision to join tech?

Absolutely. While we’ve made progress, societal norms still influence girls’ interests, self-perception, and confidence. Visible role models are crucial. We need to encourage girls, raise awareness of biases, and promote a more inclusive environment
