What motivated you to pursue a career in technology, and what inspired you to start an IT company?

The impact that technology has on our world has always been a motivator for me to want to contribute. With my background in education, I encourage curiosity as one of the greatest tools in learning and development, which is why I got into this industry many years ago, working in sales with hitta.se, one of Sweden’s first and biggest digital “phone books”.

When I got the opportunity to be a part of Kvix, and build a platform and a community of wellness creators and members worldwide proved to me that anything is possible in technology combined with passionate people. I have a big passion for innovation and problem-solving and love being a provider of great competence to other companies, which is exactly what is my job at Sigma Technology North Solutions. So I put together competence and great people with fantastic companies.

How important do you think diversity and inclusion are for the success of a technology company, and how do you promote (or plan to promote) these values within your organization?

Diversity and inclusion are crucial for any organization’s success, particularly in the tech industry, where innovation and creativity are critical to staying competitive. A diverse team brings different perspectives, experiences, and ideas, which can lead to more creative solutions and better decision-making. My goal is to create a culture of openness and inclusivity by creating a safe space for employees to express their opinions and ideas, regardless of background and identity. Active seeking out and supporting underrepresented groups help ensure our company is inclusive and diverse.

What advice would you give to women who are interested in pursuing a career in technology, and what steps can they take to overcome gender barriers in the industry?

Build a strong network. It can be a network of mentors who can support you in navigating your career in technology. Mentors with experience in the industry can give you great advice. Connect with other women in technology and expand your network by joining organizations and groups.

Develop your skills; the technology industry skills are essential, and continuous learning and development are critical. It would be best to focus on soft skills like communication, collaboration and problem-solving. Besides, you can develop by attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences. The goal is to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies.

Be confident and assertive. Speak up in meetings, share your ideas and opinions, and ask for what you want. Seek out opportunities for new challenges and responsibilities, even if it scares you. Be brave enough to step out of your comfort zone. I live by the motto that the harder the work, the luckier I am.

Educate others about gender bias ends the challenges that women face in the industry. By doing that, we help create a culture of inclusivity and diversity in both our workplace and society.

The key is to be proactive, persistent, and confident in your abilities. Seek out support from mentors, develop your skills, seek out opportunities, and educate others about the gender barriers in the industry. With hard work and dedication, you can succeed in a technology career, regardless of gender.

What is your personal plan for developing skills and expertise within the field?

I think I live by the advice above. I try to remind myself daily. Being persistent and focusing on the goal of providing great competence to the companies in our region. Indeed, I’m a true Umeå ambassador, which I can only achieve by attracting the best consultants to join us at Sigma Technology North Solutions.

I stay updated with the latest trends and developments in the field for my personal growth and contribute to our team and clients. I am seeking feedback and networking with other professionals to develop my skills and expertise and stay ahead in my career.
