The international student contest, which was, discovered the best online game ideas among Swedish and Ukrainian students.
The international student contest “University Game Awards”, organized by Sigma Technology and G2 Boss Media, is aimed to find fresh and innovative online game ideas. The contest was launched thanks to joint initiative and previous successful cooperation of G2 Boss Media and Sigma Technology. Sigma have earlier initiated a series of educational programs between the Swedish Linneaus University in Växjö and the Ukrainian Kharkiv University of Radio and Electronics, and it was decided to hold the first contest among students of these two universities.
The contest commenced in March, 2010 and the winners were announced in September based on criteria such as originality of the concept, technical implementation and business value:
- 1st place: Jakob Carlbring Alm from Linnaeus University.
- 2nd place: Aleksandr Grinchenko from Kharkiv National University of Radio and Electronics.
Those game ideas will be put into the game studio process by G2 Boss Media, and the authors will be able to follow their game ideas progress.
Throughout the competition we’ve seen many great ideas, but these two stood out as the best of the best, said Henric Westergren, Head of Casino & Games at G2 Boss Media. He continues: These projects were the most well-developed, uniting exciting idea with technology and fitting the rules of gaming business.
In 2011, it is planned that the contest will expand and invite more students from different Ukrainian and Swedish universities.
