Hi, Linlin, tell us about your role
I currently have an assignment as a control system engineer on one of our most important customers’ sites. The role is to customize, implement, and test the control system for a well-used power solution around the world.
What do you value the most in your work? What excites you most of all?
I value that I can participate in the whole process of the system production, have the opportunity to communicate with power system designer and electric designer and review their work. The part that excites me the most is to be a part of a project team and together with them deliver the well-designed and high-quality system to customers’ sites.
Why have you chosen to become an engineer?
I believe that engineering makes the scientific dreams come true. As an engineer, you do not only need to have the sufficient knowledge but also have to be creative enough to invent things. Since only by combining your technical skills and creativity you can realize your ideas into a product or a system. The whole process is like an adventure, it is something you enjoy and become passionate about.
What is your advice to the young women who are just starting their career?
Finding what you really want to do, then chasing it and finally getting is one of the most amazing things that can happen in your life. If you are a girl who is into creating and making things happen, engineering is just your thing. All you have to do is to be confident and continue trying; eventually, you will get your dream job.
