I’m thrilled to share my experience at the recent DataTjej Conference. DataTjej is an incredible nonprofit organization that supports women and non-binary individuals in the IT and tech world. Their annual conference is a powerful event, and I was honored to serve as a moderator this year.
The 2024 conference theme, “Level Up—Empower your IT journey,” was all about inspiration. As a moderator, I wanted to create a welcoming atmosphere for the 100 select members preparing to embark on their careers. My goal was to guide the conversations, ensure we stayed on track, and encourage the audience to get to know one another.
Over the first two days, we heard fantastic speeches from companies like Saab, Aurobay, King, Handelsbanken, Accenture, Omegapoint, and Glitter Coachen. They covered vital topics like cybersecurity, overcoming imposter syndrome, networking, and psychological safety. Seeing the audience engaged with the content, asking questions, and sharing their experiences was exciting.
One of my most rewarding moments was realizing I could offer value as a Sigma Technology representative. Many of the attendees needed to familiarize themselves with Sigma or the world of IT consulting. By sharing my own experiences, I lifted the veil, offering a glimpse into our company culture and what it means to be a consultant as part of the Sigma Family.
The feedback I received was absolutely overwhelming. Attendees said they appreciated my presence and energy and how I helped them connect with the conference themes. Many commented that the event instilled newfound confidence and self-belief in them. Knowing that I could inspire others through my role as a moderator was a truly special feeling.
As I reflect on the experience, I would encourage other women and non-binary individuals within IT and tech to embrace these opportunities:
- Be brave: Don’t let doubts hold you back. You’re capable of incredible things!
- Seek support: Networks and mentors can propel your growth.
- Learn from others: Every career path offers valuable lessons.
- Build your Network: Nurture the connections you create.
