New web platform for Barnens Bibliotek – a successful collaboration between Sigma Technology Digital Solutions and Cultural Administration

Sigma Technology Digital Solutions has been a development partner to the Cultural Administration of Region Västra Götaland, assisting in the redesign and further development of the web platform Barnens Bibliotek (Eng. Children’s Library), which aims to promote reading and writing among children. The website was relaunched this past spring and has received very positive feedback from both adults and the primary target group – children, who were involved in the process and helped evaluate test versions.

Barnens Bibliotek is an initiative that promotes reading, writing, and literature promotion for children and young people between 8-12 years of age. The website is run by the Cultural Administration of Region Västra Götaland but has users across Sweden.

The purpose of the website is to spark interest and creativity in reading, literature, and writing, as well as to serve as a knowledge base for finding information about books and authors. Children, the platform’s primary target group, can use the website both during school hours and in their free time, finding it relevant and helpful. Barnens Bibliotek also offers tips and inspiration, along with printable materials such as book posters, quizzes, and writing exercises, for librarians, school staff, and parents.

Sigma Technology Digital Solutions has extensive experience in assisting public organizations with digital accessibility evaluation and adaptation, design, and development. As the development partner for this project, Sigma Technology Digital Solutions was responsible for design, web development, SEO review and optimization, as well as implementation. The team also ensured that the web platform complies with WCAG and EU digital accessibility laws, providing an excellent user experience for the primary target audience.

The web platform was officially presented at the Bokmässan, Scandinavian’s Largest Cultural event, in Gothenburg.
