Together with Sigma Technology Tech House, Wedholms has developed Genovus, an intelligent connected control system that helps dairy farmers reduce resource consumption, improve reliability, and gain greater control over their operations. The solution has already been recognized with Gold in Elmia Lantbruk’s Innovation of the Year Award.

For more than 145 years, Wedholms has been a leading innovator in milk cooling technology, helping dairy farmers improve efficiency, sustainability, and profitability. As part of its ambition to lead the transition toward more energy-efficient and sustainable dairy operations, Wedholms partnered with Sigma Technology Tech House back in 2024 to accelerate the development of its next-generation control system for milk cooling tanks.

The result is Genovus, a smart, rigid, and connected platform designed to modernize how milk tanks are monitored, controlled, and maintained. Combining industry-leading milk cooling technology with new sensor technology, digital connectivity, and action-driven insights, Genovus helps farmers optimize operations while reducing energy, water, and chemical consumption.

At the core of the solution is Milk Tank Manager, an intelligent remote monitoring platform that provides real-time visibility into tank performance, enables settings to be adjusted and tweaked from a distance, and helps identify potential issues before they become costly disruptions.

In essence, the Genovus system combines:

  • – Enhanced energy efficiency
  • – Self-optimizing cleaning process with reduced water and chemical consumption
  • – Real-time monitoring and remote-control capabilities
  • – Improved operational reliability and reduced risk of breakdowns

“With Genovus, farmers benefit from lower operating costs, smarter maintenance, and more sustainable operations. Depending on farm size and operating conditions, Genovus can help reduce energy, water, and chemical consumption significantly, in some cases by up to 30 percent, while helping ensure consistent milk quality and reducing the risk of costly product losses,” says Philip Ring, Product Development & Service Manager, at Wedholms.

With Sigma Technology Tech House’s expertise in IoT, connectivity, embedded systems, and digital product development, the collaboration has transformed traditional milk cooling technology into a connected solution that delivers actionable insights and operational efficiencies.

“Genovus is a great example of what happens when industry expertise and digital innovation come together. Jointly with Wedholms, we have developed a solution that turns operational data into actionable insights. By providing greater visibility into equipment performance and enabling proactive maintenance, Genovus helps dairy operators improve reliability, reduce downtime, and make better operational decisions. Ultimately, that translates into lower costs, more sustainable operations, and greater peace of mind for farmers,” says Andreas Berggren, Vice President at Sigma Technology Tech House.

As industries increasingly move toward connected products and data-driven services, Genovus illustrates how digital innovation can create tangible business value while supporting more sustainable operations. Together, Wedholms and Sigma Technology are helping shape the future of dairy technology, where intelligent systems, real-time insights, and proactive decision-making become standard parts of everyday operations.
