At Sigma Technology Southeast Europe (SEE), we are passionate about building digital platforms that solve real operational challenges while delivering intuitive and engaging user experiences. One of our latest projects, developed in collaboration with Ettanfotboll, is a great example of how technology, design, and teamwork come together to create meaningful impact.
The Ettanfotboll Academy Platform was developed as a centralized digital solution to support football associations and clubs in managing their annual certification processes. The goal of the platform was to replace fragmented and manual workflows with a modern, secure, and scalable system that simplifies administration for both clubs and Ettanfotboll administrators.
The platform enables football clubs to complete structured certification questionnaires, upload supporting documentation, track their progress in real time, and access educational resources, all within a single web-based environment. At the same time, administrators are provided with tools to manage questionnaires, review submissions, monitor progress, and coordinate the overall certification process more efficiently.
The challenge
From the beginning, the project required close collaboration between developers, UI/UX designers, and the client team. Sigma Technology SEE assembled a dedicated multidisciplinary team that worked together throughout the entire development process: from architecture planning and user flow discussions to front end implementation and deployment.
One of the engineers heavily involved in the implementation was Art Shkodra, who worked on developing the platform from scratch together with the rest of the engineering and design team.
This project was particularly rewarding because we were not only building a technical system, but also shaping the entire experience for the end users. A lot of attention went into making the platform feel intuitive and simple, even though there is significant complexity behind the scenes.

Our contributions
An important role throughout the project was also played by Senior Developer Vesa Ademi, who managed much of the communication with the client and worked closely on understanding requirements, translating feature requests into technical solutions, and ensuring that the implementation aligned with Ettanfotboll’s operational needs.
Working closely with both the client and the internal development team, Vesa helped coordinate discussions around workflows, certification processes, and feature priorities, ensuring that the platform evolved in a structured and user-oriented way throughout the project lifecycle.
One of the most important aspects of the project was understanding how the platform would actually be used by clubs and administrators on a daily basis. We spent a lot of time discussing workflows, simplifying processes, and making sure the system would feel practical and intuitive for all users involved.

The development process followed an Agile methodology, allowing the team to work in iterative sprints and continuously refine the platform based on ongoing discussions and feedback. Designers and developers collaborated closely from the early stages to ensure that both the technical architecture and the user experience evolved together in a consistent way.
A major focus during the project was usability. Since the platform would be used by different types of users, including administrators, club representatives, and participants, the interface needed to remain clean, accessible, and easy to navigate.
The UI/UX team worked on creating a modern interface structure inspired by Ettanfotboll’s visual identity while ensuring practical day-to-day usability. The platform was designed around a clear layout structure with a navigation panel for quick access to modules and a detailed content area where users can work on questionnaires, upload files, and access resources.
The user experience was carefully optimized to minimize friction during the certification process. Features such as real-time auto-saving, progress tracking, status indicators, structured questionnaires, role-based access control, and centralized document management were all designed to make the platform efficient and easy to use for clubs and administrators alike.
According to Art, this close cooperation between design and engineering played a major role in the project’s success.
The collaboration between developers and designers was extremely important throughout the project. We worked closely on every detail, from workflows and navigation to responsiveness and performance. We did so to ensure the final product would feel polished and reliable. It was also interesting to see how newer AI-assisted workflows could support faster experimentation and iteration during development.
Technologies used
From a technical perspective, the platform was built using modern web technologies focused on scalability, responsiveness, and maintainability. Throughout the development process, the team also leveraged modern AI-assisted tools to support parts of the workflow such as ideation, implementation acceleration, code refinement, and productivity optimization, helping streamline development while maintaining strong engineering and design oversight.
The front end application was developed using Next.js (React), enabling the team to create a responsive and dynamic interface optimized for different devices and screen sizes. The backend services were implemented using Next.js server-side functionality running on Node.js, providing a scalable architecture for handling authentication, questionnaire management, user permissions, and data processing. MongoDB was selected as the database layer to support flexible data structures and efficient handling of complex questionnaire and document workflows.
The platform also includes educational and documentation sections, allowing Ettanfotboll to share guides, learning materials, PDFs, videos, and external resources with participating clubs through a centralized digital hub.
The result
For Sigma Technology SEE, the Ettanfotboll Academy Platform represents more than just another software delivery, it reflects the way the company approaches digital product development: combining engineering expertise, user-centered design, and close collaboration with clients.
It’s always satisfying to see a product evolve from early discussions into a fully working platform that people can actively use. Seeing the final result and knowing the impact it will have for the organizations using it is one of the most rewarding parts of software development.

Today, the Ettanfotboll Academy Platform stands as a modern digital solution that helps streamline certification processes, improve collaboration between associations and clubs, and provide a more structured and transparent workflow for all stakeholders involved.
Sigma SEE helped us from the very beginning in creating the platform we had envisioned. While we have extensive knowledge and experience within the football industry, software development and website creation were entirely new areas for us. From the outset, we did not know what features were technically feasible, nor which solutions would be simple or complex to implement. Throughout the entire process, Sigma SEE guided us with transparency and expertise, ensuring that we remained involved and informed during every stage of the development. They were highly committed to understanding not only what we wanted to build, but also why certain features were important to us. Now that the platform is live, it has exceeded our expectations in every way. We are truly looking forward to continuing the development journey together with Sigma SEE. Henrik Adolfsson, Ettan
At Sigma Technology SEE, we are proud to have contributed to the development of a platform that combines technology, usability, and operational efficiency – and we look forward to continuing to build digital products that create long-term value for organizations across industries.
